Position Overview

Ledgent Finance & Accounting's client is seeking a highly capable Senior Accountant with deep technical accounting expertise and the ability to manage full-cycle accounting independently. This role is ideal for someone who has built a strong foundation in public accounting, thrives in a hands-on environment, and enjoys both executing and improving accounting processes - especially around month-end close.

The ideal candidate is a dependable, knowledgeable partner to the Controller and a supportive resource for the broader accounting team. This individual should be confident working with a wide range of account types, from day-to-day operational accounts to highly complex equity and stock-related areas.

Responsibilities

Month-End Close & Process Improvement

  • Lead and enhance the month-end close process, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and completeness.
  • Develop, refine, and document month-end workflows and accounting processes.
  • Prepare and review journal entries across all account types, from cash to complex equity and stock transactions.

Technical Accounting & Financial Integrity

  • Prepare and finalize detailed balance sheet reconciliations with thorough support and documentation.
  • Review the P&L for completeness, accuracy, and reasonableness, identifying variances and areas requiring follow-up.
  • Apply strong technical accounting knowledge to ensure GAAP compliance across all areas.

Team & Controller Support

  • Serve as the Controller's right hand, providing analytical support, answering questions, and stepping in on priority tasks.
  • Act as a go-to resource for other team members, providing guidance and sharing technical knowledge.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to resolve issues, support accounting-related inquiries, and improve operational flow.

Qualifications

  • 6+ years of overall accounting experience, including 2-3 years of public accounting experience at a Big 4 firm (required).
  • Strong technical accounting foundation with experience navigating complex areas such as equity and stock-related accounting.
  • Proven ability to build, improve, and optimize accounting processes - particularly around month-end close.
  • Experience managing full-cycle accounting with high attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and partnership skills, with the ability to support and mentor others on the team.
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills; familiarity with modern ERP accounting systems.
